In these days when I see photos or I read all the news from Syria I feel so sorry for its people and this beautiful country. I was lucky one and had a chance visit the country just shortly before the war started. I remember the country as full of beautiful places, friendly people and with rich history.
Therefore I was glad when I got the opportunity to help “Campbell River Syrian Refugee Support Committee” by offering my photos from Syria for preparation of Fund raising Calendar which shows scenes from Syria before the war.
The committee is supporting the sponsorship of a Syrian refugee family, hoping to start a new life in Canada.
“Our committee is privately sponsoring 13 people who will be coming to live in Campbell River. It will be our responsibility to provide all of the funds and household supports (income, housing, food, hydro, communication, transportation, clothing) needed for 1 year. We will also help the family members by arranging for medical care, school enrollment and helping them to become familiar with Campbell River. The family members will also be able to access support from the Immigrant Welcome Centre for language classes, employment supports and assistance to become comfortable in their new country.”
